I see on Wikipedia that a new novel is expected in 2027! 'Miss Lambert Steps Aboard Danger'. 

This might be controversial, but personally 'Never Let Me Go' was my least favourite of his books. It is just utterly bleak. His stories are always melancholy, of course, but for me this particular one crossed a line into simply miserable, depressing territory. Still an amazing novel, the man's a genius, but this is just my opinion. 

Also, I do think 'An Artist of the Floating World' seems like a practice draft for 'The Remains of the Day' when you read them together - not that this is a bad thing. 'AAOTFW' is really good but he didn't go quite far enough with the main character, who is ultimately saved from the devastating realisation that Stevens experiences at the end of 'TROTD'. This leaves you feeling more comfortable, but still when you compare the two it feels like it falls short. The emotional journey 'TROTD' takes you on through Stevens is uniquely perfect and complete, somehow, and makes it a true classic.

I think 'The Buried Giant' is one of his best too. It is absolutely wonderful and such a clever idea, with a truly satisfying explanation at the end for all the strangeness Axl and Beatrice experience on their journey that really makes sense in the context of the novel.

Thank you for sharing about his next book, I was unaware of that My favourites are The Remains of the Day and Klara and the Sun as well as the film Living which is his adaption of the original Japanese film Ikiru youtu.be/-hCTXaQ1guE which reminds me of my father in many ways  Kazuo Ishiguro's daughter Naomi is also an author, I wonder what hers are like? It must be nice+satisfying for them seeing both of their books on display in Waterstones, public libraries etc
