9 minutes of thrilling footie - excellent watch, even for non sports lovers!!

BBC issued this 9 minute highlights' video of England v France. 10 goals! I urge you to watch, even if you are not a sports lover. France was a sporting team - unlike Argentina with their arguments, pushing and shirt-pulling. I loved it when French players helped English players to their feet, after accidental bad tackles.

  • What on earth for I have no interest whatsoever in sport?

  • Yes, but a lot of people DO have such interest - including pride for their country's sportspeople. There is huge skill and effort involved, as you would see in the video. It also gives pleasure and comradeship and a sense of belonging.

  • Not ot me it dosen't, the footballers may have great skill and put a lot of effort into it and htey're well paid to do so.

  • I feel a sense of belonging to the land itself and many of the creatures in and on it, but not to other humans or very few. I don't really feel I belong here a lot of the time either, very few share my interests to the depth that I have them, but then I guess that parts true for many of us here. When you have such deep interests and/or many different interests, there are going to be few people who can share them the point where you feel excited by the conversation and not like you're in a sort of teaching role. I think one of the things that stops me feeling I belong anywhere is that I ask to many questions and see through any stories a group tells about itself, because many others dont' see it they think I'm being deliberately difficult and group leaders and there always are people in that position, think I'm heretical in some way, even if the group isn't religious.

I'll look into cooling blankets thanks, Fearn and Boris want to cuddle up to me at night and make me ever hotter.
