I'm not finding it that funny, some of it is a bit cringe inducing and I see it as more of a poignant drama about relationships and loneliness than a comedy series.
I thought this at first but by the 2nd episode I was enjoying it. There are many sly digs at modern issues like driverless cars compared to hopeless human drivers, robot delivery services, a gentle poke at how we view death, companionship, human humour, but also the amazing performances by Diane Morgan and other human 'droids'. I wonder if it might be worth your watching again, but this time spotting other issues also enjoying the performances- this is very good, sustained acting. The humour is not 'laugh-out-loud' but more like Detectorists or Brian & Charles or Small Prophets.
I did the binge watch too, and laughed and cried at all the sublime bits. I too think its probably prophetic, regarding poor pay, aging populations and politics of outsourcing all combined.
I saw a clip on YouTube it was so funny. Also confirmation that tech knows things that I don’t tell it….I haven’t googled it or anything it just came through on my feed. Yikes
I wonder how it.will actually pan out in real life.
Yes, me too. I doubt I will be here by then but I think with a lack of carers and the poor pay it might easily turn out that way. I doubt they will be as whimsical as Linda Droid, though.
I've watched the first 4 episodes. I'm not finding it that funny, some of it is a bit cringe inducing and I see it as more of a poignant drama about relationships and loneliness than a comedy series.
However Diane is great as a robot and it's an interesting and thought provoking programme, considering that this is supposed to be one way that robotics is heading - providing companions for.elderly, lonely or vulnerable people. I wonder how it.will actually pan out in real life.
Just binge-watching all 6! Can really recommend this - it's funny and poignant at the same time.
I’ve just listened to Diane Morgan on Rylands radio show. She is currently promoting the new program. It does sound quite funny, Ryland has a small cameo in the new series. I loved Diane in ‘Motherland’, Sue Johnston is a very good actor, I’m sure she is going to be very funny in the series Ann Droid.
Yes, I've watched episode 2 as well. It's a similar sort of gentle comedy to Detectorists. Diane Morgan is brilliant as the Droid, Linda.
Can you watch online? Someone might have put it on YouTube or social media. Pity, as £15 per month by DD brings a lot of entertainment value.
This looks right up my street Marianne72 but I recently cancelled my TV licence to help with the bills.
That does look quite funny, will check it out!
