Moving house

Moving house on Tuesday and although im delighted to be moving into a better living situation (cost is a worry)

this is the second time in a year and a half. I have absolutely no support as have no friends or family. I’m totally overwhelmed and having meltdowns galore. any advice as I’m struggling big time.

Parents
  • If you can afford book a moving company rather than try to move everything yourself. On my last move I tried to do it myself and I was so burntout and exhausted. If you can afford people to help you pack than even better (I realise this is expensive so possibly out of reach).

When you move pack one bag with the main things that you need for the first night such as bedclothes, toothbrush, favourite cup, fidget toys, TV control, and anything else that will make you feel comfortable in your first night. That way you don't have to be searching through boxed to find these items. Good luck!

  • Label every box clearly with what it is and the room it's going in - put each 'room' slightly separate. Removals men are good with putting things where you ask-  as long as it doesn't delay them too much. I take a box with the tea things in my car, because they [and you!] will appreciate the offer of a cuppa & biscuit. I also take computers and delicate things in my car.
