Pokémon Games

BW2 and XY are still probably the best regional dexs. As for BDSP my fight with Cynthia went the over way, my Mew survived with one health due to that "pulling through" mechanic they added or whatever it's called. I've since sold it, good game, but Platinum still feels the best version of Sinnoh.

I did a really fun run of Pokémon Shield where I only used status type moves. My final team was salazzle (ex. poison gas), ludicolo (nature power), venusaur (leech seed), clefable (metronome), cofagrigus (curse), and eternatus (toxic). Also, all of them - except eternatus - knew attract, which is totally broken in Sword/Shield.

You can actually go the ENTIRE game without using a special or physical move by catching lots of wooloos in the beginning, training them by catching more wooloos until they learn copycat. Then you can slowly make your way through the beginning of the game by copycatting your opponents’ physical/special moves.

I think it’s theoretically possible to do on Scarlet/Violet by catching a bonsly right away, since they know copycat.

Nidoking is totally badass. Almost always when I play a Kanto game I have either that or nidoqueen in my roster.

I had a bad experience with Brilliant Diamond. I nearly beat the Elite Four but I had one mamoswine with minimal health and she had only garchomp left. I took out the garchomp with ice fang, but it defeated my mamoswine with ROUGH SKIN. So even though we both had our last pokémon faint at the same time, it counted as a loss for me. I haven’t had the gumption to pick that game back up and fix that loss yet.

Also I feel like the biggest problem with diamond/pearl is actually its pokémon selection. It’s like you’re basically stuck with the same pokémon each run. I find that I prefer games after Black/White, since the variety of pokémon per route picked up from X/Y and on.

Oh yeah definitely to the last part, you can basically estimate someone's age from their favourite generation...that said I know a 22 year old who loves Gen 5 the most, weird as they'd have been tiny when that one came out. I guess mine would be 3 or 4. Maybe at a push 5. I have barely ever played Gen 1 due to owning Leaf Green as a kid and also having Crystal.

I was ready for a break as we were playing a lot of other things, but I had a major resurgence when my kids got into it. Finally my encyclopedic knowledge of Pokémon (first few gens anyway) had an audience who appreciated it! 

I just find it funny that everyone has their own first encounter gen with Pokémon that becomes their own nostalgia. That's kind of cool that it's still going and has become something I share with my kids! 

Oh, my favourites are Pikachu, Charizard, Greninja, Mewtwo and Lucario

I used to love Pokemon. I still have a soft spot for the Gen 1 games. But these days, I'm more interested in one of it's clones, MegaMan Battle Network/Star Force

Also, I had no idea Satoshi Tajiri was autistic! That's really interesting!

That's a decent team. I remember my old Gen I team (Pikachu, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Mew and Snorlax) very well, it's a shame my Yellow save file died.

Anyway, concerning Daimond and Pearl, I feel like it's biggest problems are that it's gameplay isn't as snappy and polished as compared to it's predecessors, Ruby and Sapphire. There's also a couple of downgrades in the sound department as well, IMO

For me, Feraligatr, Sylveon, Magikarp, Girafarig(Farigiraf). There's probably lots more that I can't remember atm. But I'd say Feraligatr and Sylveon are the main two I always try to find merch for

I absolutely adore Pokémon! The original black and white games have a special place in my heart. What are some of your favourite Pokémon? A few of mine are Pumpkaboo, Vikavolt, Joltik and Magnemite :)

Growing up playing BW first never had that for me, but I always wondered how long term fans felt about the tone shift. It speaks volumes they've never been remade and Unova hasn't been referenced much. X and Y felt more like Gen 4 in 3D than gen 5.  I completed Sword but don't recall much of it, I preferred Scarlett. 

Yeah I would have had an Arcanine but it's sadly FR exclusive.

I'll always have a soft spot for pokémon, I had red first time round and was probably the only one that was fully complete with the pokédex too. I took a break around black/white as I wasn't keen on the style of those games. And only played some of X and Sun. I had a big resurgence with Sword and completed that -though I don't play the battle tower, but did all the post game story.  

That's not a bad team for leaf green, interesting combination (fire types were always hard to come by in that gen). Back then I had an attempt to beat the elite for with a 'cute' team of unevolved and no candies or boosts. Never quite did it without having mewtwo as a back up though, despite 300 hours on it before silver came out and I went on to that instead. (Poliwag, nidoran female, jigglypuff, pikachu, oddish. sandshrew).
