Alarm clocks with dim letters

Hi. My old plug in alarm clock has finally had it. The light was dim enough to not light up the room. I tried a new one with a green light and it was so bright I couldn't sleep. I have looked at descriptions of a few and they all say you can see the time on the opposite side of the room, so no need to squint. I just need one with enough light to see it when it is nearby at night.  Has anyone found one that is not too bright or a dimmer setting?

  • I cannot use digital time, time is visual not digital for me, I look at a clock or watch face and know the time without converting it into numerals in my head. I have a clock-face alarm clock that is not illuminated unless you press the button on the top. Its alarm is also nicely quiet, I wake up quite easily and do not fall back to sleep, ever, loud alarms give me the frights.

  • I find digital numbers really hard to read as they're all variations around the number 8 and I can see the bits that are supposedly darkened. I have to really look hard at a digital number for a while to make out what its saying, not what you want in the middle of the night. It's the same when I've got my glasses on too, I can't read the clock on the microwave, so its not an eye sight problem.
