Alarm clocks with dim letters

Hi. My old plug in alarm clock has finally had it. The light was dim enough to not light up the room. I tried a new one with a green light and it was so bright I couldn't sleep. I have looked at descriptions of a few and they all say you can see the time on the opposite side of the room, so no need to squint. I just need one with enough light to see it when it is nearby at night.  Has anyone found one that is not too bright or a dimmer setting?

  • These days, I use my iPhone. I have it set up so that, when it's placed sideways on a magnetic charging stand at night, it turns into a clock with large, dim, red figures (there are various display styles to choose from, all still in red). I've chosen to have the display turn off automatically, and reactivate when it senses motion.

    Previously, I had a Philips AJ3115/05 Alarm Clock Radio, with red figures, which I liked a lot. It's discontinued now, but I've just checked and there are still some new and used ones for sale on eBay. There's also one here on Amazon where the price is far too high - but there are lots of reviews, which might be helpful for deciding whether to add it your shortlist.

    Thank you for your reply. Yes mine was red. Thank you for the suggestion. I have an android, but turn it off at least an hour before going to bed so I don't get notifications.
