Not looking forward to extreme heat

It is just about reaching as hot as I can bear, towards the upper 20s. If we get extreme heat for a few days I get through it by thinking that it will be over soon. At the moment next week is predicted to be around 30 all week and often the prediction gets higher as it gets closer.

I like to be outside at least some of each day, but I am not sure there will be much that is bearable.

I am hoping they have got it wrong and it reduces sooner than Monday week.

  • It's becoming difficult with gardening. I don't know whether to plant out my newly-grown perennials or leave them in the greenhouse over Winter. Anyone else have this problem? It's getting late in the year for plants to establish and if there's a heatwave there'll be a lot of watering needed.

  • I'd go for it, Marianne, there's supposed to be a few days of hotter weather over the weekend, but not like it was last month. Your new plants are more likely to survive in the ground if they're over wintered outside, it will give the roots a chance to get properly established before any heat waves next year.
