Why all the garish patterns?

I'm wanting to get back into dress making and have been looking at fabrics, the range is small and all but a couple of the challis fabric that I want are in huge garish prints and totally autism unfriendly. Theres very little plain ones and those that there are in a limited range of colours, only one or two that I'd even consider wearing. I don't want to splash out £300 on a new sewing machine if I can't find the right fabric. Not even AI has been able to help, as everywhere it's sent me its all garish patterns.

I'm also a bit wary of trusting it as the website it sent me for ear loops is the unfriendliest site I've ever had the misfortune to use and now I'm having an argument with them about returns.

  • Thanks Marianne I did look at his one, but sadly those colours make me look ill, yellows and oranges are lovely and I have those colours for flowers and cushions, just not on me and certainly not near my face, I look as though I'm jaundiced.

I never wear white or cream as I manage to drop something down it on its first wearing, or someone like my ex sister in law trips and throws a glass of red wine diagonally across me. I did mange to get the stain out that time, but so many fabrics just stain and nothing removes it, or worse the cotton used in the stiching keeps the stain even if the fabric dosen't
