Why all the garish patterns?

I'm wanting to get back into dress making and have been looking at fabrics, the range is small and all but a couple of the challis fabric that I want are in huge garish prints and totally autism unfriendly. Theres very little plain ones and those that there are in a limited range of colours, only one or two that I'd even consider wearing. I don't want to splash out £300 on a new sewing machine if I can't find the right fabric. Not even AI has been able to help, as everywhere it's sent me its all garish patterns.

I'm also a bit wary of trusting it as the website it sent me for ear loops is the unfriendliest site I've ever had the misfortune to use and now I'm having an argument with them about returns.

  • Thanks Kate, I just looked at that site and if wouldn't let me on until I'd told it where I am and probably a lot of other stuff too, so I shut that down.

Marianne, thanks I looked where you suggested and the first site had one example of the fabric I want and that was patterned too.

Sorry to sound so negative about all your suggestions, but I've been looking for days and not found anything and I'm extremely wary of sites that want information before even allowing you to look, it reminds me of those horrible shop assistants who'd lie in wait behind a shop door and pounce on as soon as you entered and interrogate as to why you're there, I used to turn round and walk out of those shops too.
