A long way for a hair cut

I saw this article about families travelling long distances to get their kids hair cut at a sensory friendly hair-saloon.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were more good autism-friendly hairdressers. Maybe I could get mine cut then!

  • I should really get my haircut but I can't face going and having my fringe cut

I know I could always ask not for them to touch my fringe but then how is it meant to be kept short! I've even thought about growing my fringe out, so not having one, but I like a fringe!

I cut my own fringe in the mirror.

I clip the rest of my hair back, then I wet it down with a comb and then use hair scissors.

I pull it down straight in small clumps and make sure I cut that section at a certain point on my face, then repeat.

    It works well.

  • If you want a more feathered fringe, then clip the rest of your hair out of the way and wet your fringe, pull it all up, so as its sticking straight up and grasp between your first two fingers and cut straight across. When you release your hair, you will have a slightly lighter and layered fringe.

When cutting your own hair always make sure its evenly wet or dry and have a good grip between you first two fingers and always cut above your fingers following thier line. Or obviously below your fingers if you're cutting te way B described, this is important because hair stretches when wet and its easy to over stretch it and then when you let it go, find you've cut to much off.
