Colour Matching

I'm not sure whether this is an autism thing or just a me thing but I've recently realised I really struggle to know whether colours go together or not. It's starting to really restrict what I wear as I tend to stick to things like grey, dark blue and black which largely go with anything. I recently bought a purpley coat which I really love but I struggle to know what I can wear it with as I don't know what other colours it goes with. How can people just tell what goes together and why can't I? Anyone else struggle with this?

  • I found a Korean version of a Singer machine for £40 online about 10 years ago, and it's still going strong after a new motor and several minor repairs. This is cast iron so very heavy but it is robust and will take coat fabrics. It's worth looking on e-bay and such-like. The old machines are very strongly made.

  • A new sewing machine that will do the things I want it to will cost about £300-£400, I found out via AI why the old one went wrong, it's only built to cope with two thin pieces of fabric, not enclosed seems, or attaching waist bands where you have 3 or 4 layers of fabric. It's broken the bobbin mechanism, although this dosent' show from outside and over strains the inner gears.

I just need to find the right fabrics now and work out how to afford them.
