IGN gave a game that basically has no gameplay 10/10...

The game "Mixtape" has become notorious due to players noticing that their inputs don't affect the game in any meaningful way. If you just leave it to run, the onscreen character literally just clears the obstacles all by herself. And yet IGN gave the game a 10/10 review. Meanwhile, they gave Mouse P.I. For Hire a 6/10 for "too much cheese"...? 
How can these guys even call themselves professional game critics?

    Yes, that is the theory, but in practice they are measuring enjoyment, which is subjective as we don't all enjoy the same things. So if you find a reviewer who enjoys the same kind of games you do, you are more likely to enjoy the games they recommend and stay clear of the ones they don't! 

    It's the same with other media, like books. If someone enjoys period romance and recommended you a book and you weren't into that, you would remember that the next time they recommend you a book!
