IGN gave a game that basically has no gameplay 10/10...

The game "Mixtape" has become notorious due to players noticing that their inputs don't affect the game in any meaningful way. If you just leave it to run, the onscreen character literally just clears the obstacles all by herself. And yet IGN gave the game a 10/10 review. Meanwhile, they gave Mouse P.I. For Hire a 6/10 for "too much cheese"...?
How can these guys even call themselves professional game critics?

  • It's all subjective in the end, if someone wants to like a game they will see past it's flaws, but a great game they did like gets panned.

Best bet is to find a reviewer that aligns with what you think makes a good game and ignore all the rest!

Your example does sound silly though! Nostalgia is very powerful I guess.
