I love studio Ghibli films, any really, especially Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle (I went and read that last year as I hadn't as a child). Princess Mononoke was the first I saw.
Enjoy Pixar movies too but less keen on all the sequels since the Disney take over.
I've been waiting for my son to read Lord of the Rings, but he's resisted me so far, as I was hoping he would read it before we watched it with him. (He could do it in a couple of weeks at his reading speed if he chose to). I don't know if I've watched it since the original cinema release and then once on dvd. I did dress as an elf to go see it at 17.
I'm not always drawn to watch films, but I do enjoy it when we do. I enjoy an interesting story, I can't watch horror and not so bothered about effects films.
I rarely watch films, I prefer a series where you get to know the characters.
I do like a good martial arts film like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
I like really bad horror films like Attack the Block, Dog Soldiers and Cockney's vs Zombies.
I do love Gladiator too, I've not seen the new one though, I'm not sure if I want too?

I'm not huge into martial arts movies. There's one spoof that I thought was hilarious called Kung-Pao: Enter the Fist. It's literally just one guy dubbing over an old movie while inserting new footage of himself into it and it is HILARIOUS
Thank you for explaining, I misunderstood your use of the word bed thinking it meant bad in horrific sense not bad as “so badly written/produced/ acted as to funny.
I didn't like Alien either, or most other horror films, good but funny horror films aren't really horror, they use things like zombies or aliens as part of an often quite surreal plot and it was funny watching actors like Richard Briars and Honor Blackman fighting zombies from thier retirement home and ending up as hero's. Most of the plots are just totally silly and are funny because the actors behave like real people when confronted with something mad.
I don't enjoy psychological or supernatural thrillers and all the ones where someone goes upstairs or into the basement when theres something weird happening, psychological ones are often too realistic, supernatural ones I have to much imagination for and the ones were people end up mangled and screaming just bore me, I think FFS just get out of the house you stupid person!
Some of my other favourite films are,
Kung Fu Hustle
Arsenic and Old Lace
Sin City
300
47 Ronin
Hi CW
Can you explain how you can enjoy horror movies? Im asking seriously as I need to understand personally about a traumatic event in my childhood where I thought I was going to see a regular space opera sci fi but it turned out to be so very damaging to me, something I can never un see, It was Alien, just released, and Id no idea what I was about to experience, even typing this so many years later I feel adrenaline and cortisol surging through my veins. My friends didn’t have the same reactions and enjoyed it, but I was there, in the cabin with the guy on the table about to be chest busted. Guess it was because I related to the characters in a way I never did later with the surrealism of Tarrantino.
thanks
Alice
I agree series are good as well, getting to know characters are really good! I find films I can make character stories up on what happens after the film or party if what happened before!
