3 Good Things - Round 4

Since the third thread of gratitudes is redacted, I'll create a new one;

1. Managed to get a Sunday Lunch, at a local Spar, while supplies were available.

2. Got Manure, off my Mechanic, for growing Spuds; at his Stable.

3. Listened to a Podcast Interview of a Man who talked about Sticks used in Ireland; back in the days.

  • 1. My Autistic daughter and I have had some beautiful and deep conversations lately during morning commutes on topics such as the nature of dreams, world religions, and aspirations for the future. I really appreciate the fact that she is old enough now to ask the big questions and make decisions on what she personally believes.

    2. Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave is turning out to be easily one of the top three best video games I have ever played in my life. I knew it was going to be a great game, but it has blown me away how excellent it is in every possible way. Honestly? I can’t imagine Intelligent Systems making a better game than this in the future.

    3. When I volunteered last night at a LGBTQ+ group for teens, we discussed fifteen legendary icons of our state. One of the teens announced before we started the presentation that the two leaders are already [my state] icons they knew, but then remembered I was volunteering and pointed out that I am a gay icon, too. Lol, I’m still not sure if I count as being LGBTQ+ officially (I identify as polyamorous demisexual), so I am surprised how much that felt like a compliment despite the teen not knowing anything about my identity. I felt included.

    Sparkling heart

When I volunteered last night at a LGBTQ+ group for teens,

Well done, you are a good soul.

I’m still not sure if I count as being LGBTQ+ officially

Maybe you can be a 'token' member.

    (joke).

I could say the same actually as I've been in a monogamous heterosexual relationship for 20 years and I do wonder sometimes how to class myself - should we be classed by what we are doing at a specific moment in time, what we have been during the whole of our lives (accumulated), or what we believe in?

If it's the 1st point, I'm more than one on the LGBTQ+ (graph/acronym?).

It might be worthy of a separate thread.

  • My understanding is that he in particular changed from being heterosexual to homosexual, rather than having always been a closet gay dating women as a cover)

I would class him as bi or pansexual but it's a good illustration of the complicated nature of the subject.

  • Or what we feel ourselves to be without necessarily acting upon it.

lol yeah, you might be right.

Literally just told a coworker this minutes ago, but one of my best friends is bisexual and in a long-term relationship with a woman. I’ve asked him about it and his take on his orientation is that he’s “90% hetero and 10% gay,” so he’s far more comfortable dating women, but he has always found men attractive enough that it is significant enough.

I guess my point is for him it’s more classified based on what he has experienced throughout his life. Otherwise, if we take what he feels right now, he’d probably identify as just heterosexual due to him not currently having any romantic feelings towards men at the moment (that I’m aware of, at least).

I suppose I lean towards that way of classifying as well. I determined my orientation by analyzing my feelings, actions, and relationships throughout my lifetime and coming to the conclusion that there are patterns that suggest I am polyamorous and demisexual.

(However, one thing that is important to note is that orientation CAN change. Take Barry Manilow, for example. He admits he legitimately had romantic feelings towards his ex-wife when they were married, but now he is happily married to a man. My understanding is that he in particular changed from being heterosexual to homosexual, rather than having always been a closet gay dating women as a cover)
