Pokemon Yellow save battery died :(

I just found out my cart's battery died last night, I'm feeling really sad now. I always knew the day would come, I just wasn't expecting it to hit me so hard

  • “Change is hard, but necessary.”

-Adolf Hitler, 1945 (moments before his demise)

  • Sorry to hear about that. That’s a huge gut punch in the childhood feels.

Somewhat similar, I had a grieving period when I lost track of my brother’s Ocarina of Time after he passed. I had two other copies (somehow?) but neither were his with his save file. I had to grapple with the fact that I pinned too much emotion on that game because we would play it a lot together.

I think what helped with getting over that was recognizing that I can relive the memories any time by booting up a new save file. But that took time and facing my fear of grieving over something so small as an N64 cart.

All that to say, it’s okay to mourn something like that. It was important to you, so it deserves a bit of mourning.

  • I have started playing Shining Pearl on my Nintendo, because it arrived not long ago.

it is blinking extraordinary to play.

i am feeling lonely. I’m by myself.

i ate an amazing dinner tonight, very tasties.

    how is everyone else?

    also, I’m a top fella

  • I was gutted when mine died, all the time and energy, all the pokémon, named and trained, the moves you picked and which ones you let slip. The badges won, the victories and defeats. :( Sorry for your loss.

Red was my first cart, I will be gutted if that goes, I spent over 300 hours on it.

My daughters 9th birthday next week, she asked for a Greninja figure (harder to get the older stuff now). She got pokémon stuff when she was 3. The cycle continues.

You can replace the battery, but not what has gone. But you still have the memories.
