Sorry, but "life hack" annoys the hell out of me, I know what it means, but it sets my teeth on edge, whats wrong with a "tip" or something ?
Another thing is, text speak in normal conversation.

Oohh, that would annoy me too, I'd feel like telling her that I asked her what she thinks not what a chatbot thinks.

Why not be a child paying bills and an adult kicking piles of leaves? I don't see the need to be one or the other when I can be both at the same time
We have hot desking at work. It is indeed a nightmare. Currently I am off sick with my burnout so I am hoping that any reasonable adjustments for my return will address sensory issues like this!
Our clear desk policy was followed by 'hot desking'. That was even worse, in fact and autistic nightmare. I am so glad I now work from home where my desk is 'cold' each day I sit at it. I can also have anything I like on or around my desk.
For 10 years, I worked somewhere much beloved of ye olde corporate speak - which they were also prone to issuing on corporate ceramic mugs - at nauseatingly regular intervals - which their "clear desk policy" then "encouraged" all employees to use for consumption of hot beverages (via the threat of non-corporate branded mugs found left in sight on desks overnight = consigned to the bin by the cleaning team by morning).
Ugh!
It was in the UK ...I thought the mug obsession all very odd. Definitely a case of corporate overreach.
It piqued the sense of rebellion in me; so I got myself a mug, specially for the workplace ...with a chicken in pride of decoration. No words of protest. Just a chicken.
While I know some folk's non-corporate messaging mugs did hit the bin, as per policy, never to be seen again. My mug was never so much as moved, never mind binned.
I think this was the cleaning team's expression of silent solidarity (they probably thought it a bonkers policy too).
Decades later, my "chicken" mug still has a home on my kitchen mug shelf.
In celebrating an ongoing icon of; "rhubarb to corporate waffle": I am jolly well going to select my chicken mug for enjoying my coffee this morning!
Put that in your "clear desk policy"!
I think most corporate speak is just awful. Eg we'll put a pin in that or put it on the back burner.
One of least favourite is "for the needs of the business" which is loosely translated as "we can't really justify it and we don't care how it affects you.".
I don't know why we should be ashamed to be our age?
I suspect it's more about retaining youth than being ashamed of age, which I don't think is a bad thing. Dedicating some time just to going out to have fun rather than deal with adult things like work and bills. I remember it being quite eye opening when I've been to parties as an adult with people who were adult figures growing up. Sometimes it's good to put adult things aside and be immature for a bit.
I don't know why we should be ashamed to be our age?
I too dislike "boys" and Girls" to describe adults, I find infantilising and wonder if its an excuse for bad behaviour or behaviour that would otherwise be seen as inapropriate for adults?
Any grown adult who still refers to themselves as a "girl" or a "boy" into adulthood. No, you're not "going out with the boys," or "having a girls' night" when you're in your 30s and beyond... I'm not a fan of "[age] years young" either. Why is there so much stigma around ageing?
I'm getting fond of AI - rapid collation of information is amazing, as is asking AI to calculate, eg capacity of plant containers. Maybe one day we will regret the way AI is slowly infiltrating everyday life, but when I see progress like robot operations saving lives overseas, I cannot help but cheer them on.
'Perfect' is one of mine that I don't like people saying - If everything was 'perfect' then everything and everyone would act the same and it would make life boring - Yes I don't like too many different things as I find making decisions hard, but if everything was the same it would just get too boring
Or how about just focus on one thing at a time
That's borrowed from cricket, I think. I agree that work is rarely play for me. Another one at work is the modern use of 'role' instead of job, although with the extent of masking I have had to do, maybe work is more like acting!
