I often feel like a fish in a tree

Out of place and away from my natural element. Now I'm thinking what tree am I in? I think I'm in a weeping willow tree, I'm on dry land, but sometimes have my feet in the water and my branches trail into the flow that is other peoples lives, I feel them, but don't really engage

Anyone else feel like this and what's your tree?

  • Maybe a hawthorn, unassuming hedgerow staple, who looks out for the wildlife. A little prickly, but has flowers for insects and fruit for birds.

  • I want to say an older oak tree.

Robust, strong, dependable. But secretly hollowed out on the inside and not as sturdy as I appear (or perhaps stronger than I think). The odd branch might fall off in a storm. But still there.

Given the right conditions I can still flourish. Slight smile

  • Silver Birch (hair is the same colour as the bark). Common and inconspicuous (just the way I like it). Peels & shed layers (continuous exhaustive masking). Drooping branches when older (ageing vs gravity). Provides shelter for mosses & grass (caring for others). Birds use the trunk for shelter (always wanted a roommate). Great in the winter (I hate the heat with a passion). Known for new beginnings (recent ASD diagnosis).

Maybe one day ill be conspicuous, which would make feeling & being out of comfort zones easier?
