Also perhaps it is worth considering that "conversational" communication does not necessarily have communication of a direct response as it's sole role.  

I am somewhat accustomed to first generating a response via "internal" speech then vocalising it externally.  I have learnt the hard way that if I do not I can be misunderstood very easily or indeed may be accidentally offensive.  Some people do not engage in this process so much perhaps - they literally speak what they think simultaneously as the thoughts arise in their mind - so long rambling answers follow as the process of deliberation that might be carried out internally is voiced.

Although this is satisfactory in many situations I agree that it can be frustrating.  Being patient can be hard sometimes I agree.
