A loaf of crusts

I prefer the crusts toasted, but yes it is the best.

Marmalade is a rountine food for me, I always need to have it in the house. 
In high school my afterschool snack was two slices of toast, one marmite, one marmalade. I think because we have bagels every weekend for breakfast, i've eased off the marmite, and it's been one butter and one marmalade. My favourite is Bonne Maman Bitter Orange Marmalade.

I can't stop thinking about marmalade now. Bitter orange is definitely top for me, with shred.  There is sometimes lemon and lime in the fridge as my husband likes it and my daughter had a phase of this on toast. I have had multi fruit, and three fruit too from a little home-made shop. It's nice to try different one's, including my father-in-laws diabetic one when we visit, but I always go back to the main one. I'm sorry I had to talk more about it, I don't think I would sleep if I didn't.

Citrus fruits are great, we try get pomelo around this time as it must be it's season, we only see it around Christmas here. I'm not as familiar with bergamot, though I think I've had a drink with it in? And prosecco marmalade sounds like something you'd get at a fancy hotel!

I'm curious about your story now as I went to university in Dundee, I feel I have missed out there! Though I did go on the ship the Discovery, I think they used to prescribe a spoon of marmalade to help with seasickness?

I could talk about lemon, lime, orange, and bergamot forever! They’re my favorite fruits and also scents. Once I found bitter orange marmalade made with Prosecco! And I loved reading about the story behind orange marmalade from 18th-century Dundee. 

Oh that pan looks very useful -overboiling is a worry with the ones I have. I will get my husband on the look out for the serville oranges (he is the one that does the shopping). I would like to try it!

Do try it - the longest part is shredding the peel - you can shred it as large or small as you like  or just make jelly. I have a maslin pan which makes it easier - it is very large and so never boils over. Look out for the Seville oranges as the season is really short.

You know I've never tried making my own, I've done jams plenty of times with fruit from the garden, but as we don't grow oranges, it never crossed my mind to try!

It's not a bad thing to think about! Have you tried making your own? The Seville oranges will be out soon - the season's very short. 3 fruit marmalade is wonderful too. Here are some BBC recipes for marmalade products. I freeze bread too - handy if you get the night time munchies .
