Technical Difficulties!

Another thread bites the dust:

 Flannelling by IT man? Can anyone advise the difference between a computer in 'sleep' and 'shut down' 

The break happened when I quoted someone, wrote a response and added a JPG format picture to show the settings that needed changing for the advice I gave.

This is probably the 4th time I have seen a thread break in identical circumstances.

 Katrina Mod  it will be worth mentioning this to the tech - there is a common cause but it is not so easy to reproduce it.

I just repro'd it.

Have a message, then reply with a quote AND an image and it breaks.

So for the moment, we just don't do both at once.

That might be cheaper for NAS!

Yes there could be otherways of breaking the site, but that was a sure for way, so best avoided. 

To be clear I tried: 

• Posting a message (fine)
• Replying to the posted. message with a picture (fine)
• Replying to that posted message with the same picture -so double nested. (fine)
• Replying to the first message with same picture and quoting the message. (broken) 

There could be otherwise to get the orange banner, but that seemed to be one. 

It's also broken my recent 'activities' section on my profile as it can't find my messages on those threads which makes sense.

Or maybe it needs an enema to unblock it?

JPGs are definitely involved somewhere I think.

However, I've also noticed that some old threads that haven't been looked at for a long while have the same problem, so who knows?

It's a mystery wrapped in an enigma (or is it an enema?).

Your thread has come up with the dreaded orange box, so maybe'you're right, but I don't think other threads that have been orange boxed have all had this, although I could be wrong?
