Share ideas for making Christmas cheery and less onerous for singletons

Some of us like being alone at Christmas - many dread this time of year. Any singletons share how they make Christmas a good experience?

Mine

1. enjoy looking at decorations in shops, looking at others' ideas on line - then choosing my decorations

2. find pleasure tidying my home

3. finding and taking nice things to charity shops and food bank

4. making things ahead, like mincemeat, sloe gin, cranberry sauce

5. reminding myself how lucky I am to live in a warm, safe home with many resources

  • I’m single but I actually really enjoy Christmas. I love seeing all the twinkling lights, listening to all the music and I also tend to watch more Christmas films or episodes of the Simpsons or spongebob. I also find the racetrack Merry Mountain on Mario kart to be even more fun and special (though I always love that track either way). I also love playing acnh on Christmas Eve and decorating my island before. And of course I love the mystery of what presents I get. Even if it’s just something small, it’s the excitement and mystery, like I’m still living my childhood dreams. Also my birthday is not long before Christmas so it’s kind of like two Xmas for me.

Love your decorations by the way!

  • I saw some lovely balls in Home Bargains yesterday, they were like those coloured glass balls in a string net you get in maritime themed pubs. Unfortunatley they only came in a a big box with other stuff I didn't want.

I did see a load of baubles in the shape of food mixers and other kitchen equipment, I didn't understand that at all.

  • Ahh ok. I will have to have a look out for them myself as I am curious as to see what they look like. My mum picked up for fake candy canes for me as well as some silver baubles. I might start putting the big tree up in a bit actually but I think I’ll need more decs lol! I actually think it’s quite nice to see more Xmas decs and lights up now instead of Halloween.
