Last week I had a busy week in my town

Feeling worn out.

17th of August we went to the annual fruit and veg show. Really enjoyed seeing talent and different winners.

18th my group had there annual barbecue (indoors due to the muggy weather);

19th we had coffee and a bun in the community hub cafe before the art exhibition in a local school (the art group hired the school);

24th August it was Charter Day for 2025 has not been announced yet, but events are typically held around the Bank Holiday Sunday in late August. Usually 1pm to 5pm.

The reason is to mark the town's 1300 Royal Charter granting the right to hold a weekly market (every Saturday 8.30am to 1pm);

It was a difficult week as something happened 6 years ago which is painful memories. :(

  • Yeah I get that, sounds like you had a packed week with the show, the barbecue, and the art exhibition on top of everything else. Even good stuff can leave you drained when it all comes at once, and certain dates always bring back memories whether you want them to or not. I usually feel the same after a run of community events, enjoy them while they’re on, but then need a couple of quiet days to reset.

  • People can find tough anniversaries can be upsetting; so thank you for sharing that awareness here with us this week.

    I hope you feel reasonably OK - even though it is understandably a difficult time this particular week.

    I can imagine myself feeling worn out too; if I had just experienced a calendar week packed with activities as you described.

    The activities do sound some nice things to have done and I am glad you enjoyed the fruit and veg show.

    I find it can be helpful to make the extra effort to show up at things around the time of a difficult anniversary.

    It is a good way to remind ourselves that we are actually safe in the "now", plus, that it is good; that we are allowed to relax and enjoy that experience of being in the present (even as we also recall the anniversary with its painful memories).

    Hoping you will have also found some time to yourself, or be comfortable relaxing with people you know on Sunday, or today.

    Take care.
