Origami shapes called "bloom patterns" - for future spacecrafts

In case there are any origami devotees / spacecraft fans here!

"Origami structures, based on the Japanese paper-folding art, are used by engineers because they can be stored compactly but then opened up into much larger shapes.":

My origami experience has yet to address this bloom pattern challenge - has anyone attempted producing an origami bloom pattern such as these?

  • I always used to be impressed with how items were wrapped in Japan.

I think origami has been looked at for a long time by NASA and others for deployable structures.

I have not seen or tried creating a flower.

Another thing that has been considered but not used yet (I think) is memory metals, which change shape when heated.
