Naturism (Non-sexual nudity)

There seems to be no mention of this subject here and I wondered if this was due to overzealous mods confusing naturism with sex. Many of us find the feel of clothes adding to our sensory overload and being unclothed is such a relief and a help when overwhelmed. Also the security of a naturist club where you know that all the members have been carefully vetted and where there is no judgement of difference can be a safe place to unwind. It is also a safe place for autistic children as well as adults. Am I the only autistic naturist here?

  • I’ve been asked why I never wear shorts, even on the hottest of days. The answer is always,  “ shorts are for playing football in or swimming, I do neither, I don’t need to even own shorts.” The bare foot issue came up at my assessment, when I started infant school my parents had to buy those black slip-on plimsolls, the teacher had tried to make me do PE barefoot, she then whiteness a full meltdown. I still never go barefoot.

  • shorts are for playing football in or swimming, I do neither,

That is a true autistic answer.

In reality shorts are just an article of clothing and can be worn wherever and whenever the wearer wants to so long as it does not breach and clothing codes.

To my knowledge there is no hard and fast rule that you need to wear shorts when swimming or playing football (I've seen players in leggings ans swimmers in onesies) so in that light it helps to challenge your own preconceptions.

    No judgement, just observing.

  • It's a very rare occurrence for me but I give in occasionally on extremely hot days.

  • I often find the more layers I wear the less comfortable I am around the present company. It would be a sensory nightmare for me personally trying to sleep or walk about too long without socks on. For some reason I feel they protect my feet although in reality they do very little, but it’s a form of sensory armour!
