Stop WW3 before it starts, I'm on the spectrum and it scares me to my bones

World War 3 and nuclear war in particular are becoming highly likely, especially because of the potentially unlawful actions of certain countries (such as when Russia invaded Ukraine, and what china is going to do with Taiwan by 2027), if a nuclear war or similar event breaks out, it will lead to a living hell, so it should be stopped before it starts

I have been suffering from severe anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and have become sick, all because of in the news (especially in the apps like Apple News and several uk tabloids and news sites) highly likely going to be world war 3/nuclear war, I have seen "Threads" (1984) which at the time was produced with the input of scientists, doctors, and other experts, if war must happen, the government should distribute euthanasia kits to everyone in the country, so that nobody need suffer the horror of a post-nuclear attack world

  • I do not see it as 'highly likely'; certainly not more so than it was in the Cold War, anyway. While Trump is happy to bomb Iran, he is very averse to putting US boots on the ground, for pressing domestic political reasons. Israel has nukes, but has not used them. Iran has shown itself to be incapable of responding in kind to Israel's attacks, or of defending its own airspace. Russia has broken its teeth, and wrecked its economy, army, navy and air force, in Ukraine. Despite all the chest-beating in NATO countries about re-armament, Russia is in no state to mount any offensives outside Ukraine for the short to medium future.

  • It is scary, but I agree with Martin, Trump is reluctant to put boots on the ground. I ran backed many groups like the Houthi's Hamas and others, I think it's also pretty isolated in the Middle East too, it's own people are unhappy both with the regime and are terrified of Israeli bombs.

Russia has a lot of people, potential soldiers, but not so many allies, it seems to be using North Koreans to do the dying on the ront lines in Ukraine, most of the North Koreans don't know where they are are who they're fighting, when they'e captued, they think it was all some kind of drill. Iran will probably no longer be able to support Russia with weapons.

I do think Europe needs to be better prepared to defend itself, I don't think it's conventional weapons and armies that we need worry about so much now, as things like cyber attacks and attacks on things like undersea cables are cheaper and more deniable, than conventional warfare.

Being part of the Greenham Common generation, I know all to well the fears of nuclear war, we not not have got rid of all the bombs and the idiots who like having them to wave around, but we did unite women across the world against it. I remember seeing news of Russian women protesting against escalation, Russia was just as much in an inormation bubble as now, this was the end of the Soviet Union and controls on what people were allowed to read, listen too and watch were heavy.

Before that when I was a baby, my parents told me of Cuban Missile Crisis when Russia and America very nearly went to war with the nuclear option being the first considered.

I don't want to undermine you or your fears, but we are still here, people are just as aware of the dangers of nuclear bombs as they were at any time during the last 80 years. As I said earlier I think we have more to fear from unconventional warfare, such as cyber, than nuclear. Russia has threatened Ukraine with nuclear, waving it like some king of magic wand, but in truth it's not used them and modern warfare seems to be a horrible mix of the trench warfare of WW1 with drones and cyber mixed in.
