Anybody else on here hate spring and summer?

Hello all. Slight smile

Been a while since I last visited this forum, but it's nice to be back and hopefully now I am able to spend more time on here.

Anyway, anybody on here hate spring and summer as much as I do?

Whilst I enjoy a good thunderstorm and I also like flowers, that's the only part about this time of the year that I like. I wouldn't say that I have reverse sad as such (at least not yet), but I am undoubtedly much more of an autumn and winter kind of person. People keep going on about how they look forward to spring and summer and you feel obligated to play along with people in conversation who say that "the weather is so lovely at the moment". But I can't relate, though I used to.

I have two gardens and I detest having to maintain them as it's such a hassle (getting myself a flat is out of the question for the timebeing). As a night owl and an introvert I am also not a fan of the ridiculously long daylight hours and for this reason I always look forward to the summer solstice. There's also the local boy racers with their loud cars or motorbikes speeding along the street as well as the blasting out of loud 'music'. And you also get the bugs including swarms of flies and pesky wasps.

In terms of temps, above 23 Celsius starts to become on the uncomfortable side for me and UK homes aren't built for the heat. What is just as annoying is that any forecasted hot spells are upgraded each day we get closer to them.

I would probably enjoy summer more if I was abroad on holiday lounging by the pool or on the beach whilst staying in an air conditioned hotel. But in the UK, summer is an annoyance.

  • I love autumn and spring as I like it to be fairly light and able to go outside without a thick coat on, but I love wearing layers of cosy clothes and boots and the air being cool. My favourite material is corduroy and after summer I find it really exciting to be able to wear corduroy again.  I love the colours of autumn and the smell of brown leaves, slightly rotting nature and bonfires. In the spring the hope and certainty that it’s all coming around again, and being able to enjoy spring flowers. Winter is good for slightly hibernating, spending days just hiding under a blanket and doing things I love, but if it’s raining all the time not so good as I have a horse to attend to and the mud can be unbearable. The summer is just too hot for me. I hate my skin feeling clammy and sticky and I hate sweating, but I do love a swim in the sea and spend hours just bobbing about as it’s so calming. I would say that treading water is a stim for me, just not one I can do very often.
