Anybody else on here hate spring and summer?

Hello all. Slight smile

Been a while since I last visited this forum, but it's nice to be back and hopefully now I am able to spend more time on here.

Anyway, anybody on here hate spring and summer as much as I do?

Whilst I enjoy a good thunderstorm and I also like flowers, that's the only part about this time of the year that I like. I wouldn't say that I have reverse sad as such (at least not yet), but I am undoubtedly much more of an autumn and winter kind of person. People keep going on about how they look forward to spring and summer and you feel obligated to play along with people in conversation who say that "the weather is so lovely at the moment". But I can't relate, though I used to.

I have two gardens and I detest having to maintain them as it's such a hassle (getting myself a flat is out of the question for the timebeing). As a night owl and an introvert I am also not a fan of the ridiculously long daylight hours and for this reason I always look forward to the summer solstice. There's also the local boy racers with their loud cars or motorbikes speeding along the street as well as the blasting out of loud 'music'. And you also get the bugs including swarms of flies and pesky wasps.

In terms of temps, above 23 Celsius starts to become on the uncomfortable side for me and UK homes aren't built for the heat. What is just as annoying is that any forecasted hot spells are upgraded each day we get closer to them.

I would probably enjoy summer more if I was abroad on holiday lounging by the pool or on the beach whilst staying in an air conditioned hotel. But in the UK, summer is an annoyance.

  • I love spring, but could happily do without most of summer, I can't control my temperature, so I'm usually to hot, anything above about 22-23 and I'm flaked out. I'm sorry, but glad that I'm not the only one with Summer SAD, nobody believes that it can happen and that we're just being miserable, but how can one be happy when one itches all the time, are dripping with sweat, achey, even more brain fooged than usual and chronically sleep deprived?

I've found that keeping my blinds closed and the window open helps, as it lets air in but not the heat, I've been known to use one of those large gel filled dog cooling mats to sleep on, I need another one actually.

  • To be fair, I don't really mind spring itself too much. What I don't like about it is that it is a trainsition into summer. If we just had spring without summer, then it wouldn't be so bad.
