What is/are your obsession/s?

Hello, this will be my first time interacting with other autistic people so I’m looking forward to hearing from anyone.

I’d like to hear what obsessions and hobbies you may have. Bonus points for really niche ones, but anything goes.

Mine would be driving safety and theory. I have a special ability to judge my surroundings exceptionally well which makes me quite handy behind the wheel. I also have a copy of the Highway Code that I take everywhere, I don’t know what it is but I just find all that stuff intriguing and quite exciting. There’s a YouTube channel called Ashley Neal that I watch religiously, great if you want to improve your road safety and attitude towards driving.

Thanks for reading.

  • Nothing "niche" for me, my main hobbies are reading and playing video games.

However my current obsession is Sims 4 - I started a project last year to build lots of homes and buildings (such as restaurants & museums) and populate with Sims of my own creation. I have spent countless hours thinking of building designs and names for the sims. It's a bit like AlienOn3arth's projects where she builds doll houses and Lego villages, just that mine are digital.

I don't know if you are familiar with Sims 4, but if so I started a Sims 4 discussion thread which goes into more detail.

Your obsession is very interesting - never heard of that one before, but I understand how you could get into that stuff. We tend to aim to be experts at the things that interest us!

Hope you enjoy chatting with us.

  • Yes, creating own world gives a lot of joy! As a kid I used to draw floor plans and each one had the exact address with the street name, postal code, number and the name of the owner. Owners were little dolls made of paper around 10cm tall. I have posted some photos of them in the creative thread.
