What are your annoying words?

I have a few that I don't like to hear or say for various reasons. Possibly because they're linked to people I no longer speak to, or I hear them in a funny accent that grates on me. Here's my list of the ones I can remember.

  • Brunch - ***
  • Bric a brac - Similar reason above
  • Crockery - It's just annoying
  • Pamphlet - It's a leaflet!!!!
  • Napkins - or any other insipid cutesified word that finishes with 'kins'.
  • Ointment - Sorry CatWoman. You're the inspiration for this thread, although this one is only mildly annoying and it reminds me of Patsy Byrne in Blackadder 2. Rofl

I can't think of any others right now but I'm sure some of you will be able to trigger them. What are yours?

  • I don't mind Woke, but I really dislike the way it's been demonised by the far right to mean something nefarious or even dangerous.

It's supposed to mean enlightened, educated and empathetic, so maybe that's why it annoys them, since many of them are so intolerant of anyone who's different, and probably can't say or spell enlightened, educated and empathetic.

  • Lotus Banter is the first thing I thought of. I don’t like the word, how it sounds or the meaning. What connection is that word to joking around anyway?
Perhaps I don’t like it because I struggle to get when it’s taking place and Ben if I do recognise it as often don’t know what to do.
