Bank Holidays Like them or not?

I'm not a huge fan, it feels like we've got 3 sundays this week and sunday has never been my favourite day. All the telly gets messed up, there feels like a lot of pressure "to do something". Most of the bank holidays are religious ones and many aren't Christian so have little attachment to them. There also seems to be a huge social divide, white collar workers get to have time off, blue collar ones don't, when I worked in a small independent shop, we closed for bank holidays, some of our customers would complain, they were off work and so were we, younger folks seemed to have no idea that shops might want to close that we workers had homes, families and stuff to do.

How about you, do you like them, or are they a bit blah?

  • I used to live for them in my previous job. Mainly because I hated the job so an extra day off was a true gift. These days I'm self employed so they make no difference to me at all. It's just another day now, but it means that my girlfriend is off work so i can spend time with her when I'm finished with clients in the morning. Blush
