If you were a fictional character, who would you be? And why? - Misc and chat

Mine is DEFINITELY ... Emma (from Jane Austen).

Always trying to help, but sometimes making a complete mess of things.

  • I’m new here, hi.

I guess I would be Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor from Doctor Who as I see so much of myself in her character – the unusual but stylish imo dress sense, the noticing every little thing, becoming randomly but completely absorbed in things and suddenly talking about things she finds interesting. So much of that is me and to see it portrayed on tv from one of my fave shows was like a dream come true for me. It made me feel a lot less alone, and I finally had somebody to relate to.
So yeah, definitely would be her if I could be a fictional character.

  • I'd be Dr Ruth Galloway, from Elly Griffith's novels, I've always fancied an academic career and archaeology and osteology have fascinated me for a long time. I'm also someone who wonders how other people managed to look so effortlessy stylish,  I'd love to be able to do all those fancy drapes and knots on a scarf and not look like I'd tried to hang myself with a tea towel.

  • Great choice. I love that series and all of her books I've read, she's a really good author and I find so many of the character's she writes about relatable and interesting. Have you read her latest book - The Frozen People - it's an incredible story, hopefully she will make an Ali Dawson series I would buy them all!

  • I've just got it from the library and haven't started it yet.
