Posts disappearing

I tried writing out some replies this morning but all of what I wrote has just disappeared. I saw another member asking about their own reply suddenly being gone as well yesterday. Yesterday, I was questioning whether I had replied to a post....and then assumed I hadn't but now looking back I feel I probably had and that post had also just disappeared!

It's confusing to say the last....

  • Ironically, just seen a post added to losing a game, old thread that missed the spam filter.

  • From my experience; while the technical team wrestle with the anti-spam filter training: you can (inadvertently) trigger the spam-sin-bin.

When that happens you may (briefly) see either a horizontal orange text banner at the top of the screen, or a an orange square text box in the top right hand corner of the screen - alerting you about moderated replies (that means the last posted reply and future replies until a volunteer Moderator is available to adjudicate and take your account out of the moderation queue.

In the meantime, if you need help / support (not emergency support) you may well find you are still able to create a new original post (start a new thread) but your replies will be stacking up in the moderator queue.

It is helpful if you email the Community Manager to let them know what happened / the nature of the reply which was the initial anti-spam moderation trigger / which thread was impacted.  This helps provide evidence / content to aid the technical team with their problem-solving / further tuning of the anti-spam filter.

It is worth mentioning that (where your replies were incorrectly anti-spam trapped); once the Moderator has released them from the queue - it / they (your replies) will become visible in the thread(s) as you had intended.

There is another odd thing being experienced - which is unhelpful - many accounts don't seem to be receiving notifications on their account to alert them to their moderation / quarantine status progress.

Therefore, it is worth doing two things: 1) check some hours / a day later to see if your reply has become visible, and 2) making that earlier email report to the Community Manager (who will reply when possible.

It would be fair to experience the above process during weekdays, with more patience as appropriate over weekends / Bank Holidays.

Later this month an adjusted anti-spam filter experience will be made available and our live testing will commence (simply by our use of our Online Community and providing feedback via the Community Manager if we observe an issue).

Hope that helps (many of us have (repeatedly) been experiencing the spam-moderation--sin-bin ...you are in (multiple) good company!).

  • I'm sorry you are having such difficulty. I have been having similar problems and also emailed the community manager, who reassures me it's being looked into.

I miss Claire, she was the Community Manager when I first joined and was very helpful she got things sorted fast. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Fingers crossed that these trials coming up will be positive.

  • Still having this problem.....

The irony though that this thread and post haven't disappeared. I swear someone up there is laughing at me.

  • I am sad to say that the insect thread along with all my others were deleted by NAS I believe by mistake.

I am not present here much nowadays as I can't abide the forum faults where posts disappear.

I remember your wonderful insect photography.

If you start a new thread you could add your photos there.

    Take care T.

  • I used to chat with other wildlife photo enthusiasts. I used to post my insect photos.  But all these are gone, all the people I were in contact with are now gone.  The NAS forum was supposed to help and encourage ND people, I feel this new site has taken everything from me.

  • I rarely had any email notifications in the past. I am not sure if I turned them off. However recently I looked at my emails, which I hadn't done for a while and had loads. I also now get the orange spots which I don't remember before the update. What I don't understand is that I don't remember asking for these, but others who want them don't get them.

  • I either get no notifications and then I get loads....except they are from days ago. Makes responding to people very confusing...and late.

but still fear that new members "can't be bothered" to stay around here due to the awful functionality.

I think you are right. I've seen a lot of new people join and I don't think any have stuck around, or maybe they try....and then their posts never appear.

  • I still have no notifications for anything at all.

This forum continues to have many technical problems and issues from what I can see.  I'm very bored of moaning about it.....but still fear that new members "can't be bothered" to stay around here due to the awful functionality.

  • I've had that a few times. It should be approved and appear again later today, once a mod gets to it.

  • Whilst the "Moderation team" seem wholly consumed with reminding us about the RULES all the time, these days, I am kean to keep reminding THEM that we are autistic and more vulnerable than many to feelings of uncertainty and persecution.......so perhaps concentrating on "disappeared" posts and mistreatment of us is FAR MORE important than  reminders of the rules?

I am inclined to agree. Last week I saw a lot of reminders about medical advice even though I didn't really see any advice being thrown around, but all the while posts are still disappearing. I haven't even been able to sign in lately, this morning it's magically working again.

    Long may it last!

  • I tried to reply to a post on the forum and vanished. Said that the moderators needed to approve it which is strange.

  • I'm sorry you are now (all of a sudden) having trouble.....for no apparent cause or reason.   This was the same for me.  It makes "us types" doubt our own sanity I fear.

    Just my thoughts on this.
