The Harry Potter series are my favourite films (I do much prefer the books but the films are quicker to watch )
I'm also partial to kids animation - Encanto is probably my current favourite but Fantastic Mr Fox is a close contender.
Some other favourite films:
I do also love Christmas films but only after Halloween and not The Polar Express - that one weirds me out
That must have been such a fun and interesting experience, for you and Kate Kestrel , I used to live close to Wells - in Wincanton - but now live in Wales so nowhere near as close. I always intended to visit the filming locations as it's one of my top favourite films but it somehow never happened. I still want to visit there, but at present it's not possible.
We know all the lines too! And we’ve been to the locations too :) It’s such a great film.
It’s hard to lust favourites but here goes.
Rambo First Blood. Most probably watched over 100 times.
Original The Italian Job
The Shawshank Redemption.
Notting Hill.
Taken.
Its a Wonderful Life.
Die Hard
Time Bandits
Star Trek. All movies.
Last Night in Soho.
The Quiet Man.
The Philadelphia Project.
Steel Magnolias
Beaches.
Most Bond films.
Hot Fuzz
The Flight of the Navigator.
I went to Wells last year and visited a lot of the filming locations. My eldest son can watch Hot Fuzz with the sound turned off and voice all the lines exactly. The Cornetto Trilogy used quite a few locations near to me, the interior scenes for the pub in Hot Fuzz were much nearer to the studios. I like Simon Pegg in the Star Trek films.
Hot Fuzz is hilarious and timeless IMHO. I have watched it dozens of times, I like nearly every film Simon Pegg has been in. Another favourite for me is Wonka, I think that's a lovely film, I just bought the book the other day. Very excited to read it!
Never seen it but being the collector of retro games I am, I do have it on Gamecube I think...
Gladiator
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
The Business
Ong Bak
Shirley Valentine
Cockney's vs Zombies
Dog Soldiers
47 Ronin
My favourite ever film is Apollo 13, because the history of the space race really interests me and I love seeing all the intricate problem solving going on to save the doomed moon mission successfully.
I've found recently that I feel more drawn to films from the 80s and 90s at the moment. It might be nostalgia, but I think another reason is watching the technical effects being great but constrained. These days so much computer effects are used that it's become too commonplace and not special anymore.
I love Hot Fuzz so much too - we’ve watched it so many times and it never stops being funny :)
my other favourite films: Far From the Madding Crowd (the 1960s version with Julie Christie and and Alan Bates)
Also:
Sweeney Todd (Tim burton)
Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (with Gene Wilder)
’Housekeeping’ - a film by Bill Forsyth - which in my opinion is one of the best films about life as an autistic woman
Grand Budapest Hotel
‘Walkabout’ (Nick Roeg)
‘Howard’s End’
and so many more! I watch ‘Adolescence’ in Netflix last night - that was really remarkable - not a favourite film but still such an amazing bit of filmmaking.
The Polar Express is my all time fave Xmas film it's so magical, makes me feel like a kid again....my other fave film is Titanic the 1997 James Cameron film. I love everything about the Titanic and for me this film is just the absolute best. I have watched it so many times.
