I've got a bad reputation on this forum

I've just looked at my profile and it now says "Your current reputation puts you in the top 100% of members." I think i used to be in the top 1%; then it changed to the top 10%; and now only the top 100%?! What did I do wrong?

(Is this why all my messages are going into moderation before they appear?)

Anyway, more seriously, what does "Members in the top 50% are highlighted within the community." mean? I've not noticed that anybody's highlighted in any way.

  • Sorry I have no idea where it even appears. I don’t care about the reputation at all. Here I’m only for connections and support which I get. 

  • It's a pointless metric.

    This is just down to mathematics and nothing else.

    When they delete users, your reputation will drop because there are less unused accounts to compare the number too. They had a big cull of unused accounts recently.

    For example, if there was you and one other account with higher reputation than you and two other unused accounts with zero reputation, then you would be in the top 50%. If those two accounts get deleted, you are then in the bottom 50%.

    This happened to all of us.

  • I wouldn't say that gives you a bad reputation, it's just a counting thing and perhaps your posts that are going into moderation aren't being counted? When my posts kept going into moderation I emailed the community manager and they got it stopped, so I'd suggest you do that. But don't worry about a "reputation" here, people will make up their minds about you without referencing that - in fact many of us have or had no idea that this " ranking system" exists!

    Correct - it is pointless.....because it has no meaning, and never has had.

    Seems a little pointless to have if it doesn't actually mean anything.
