Trade wars

Trump seems set on starting trade wars, I think some things are going to get expensive, and others not so much.It seem to me like a huge opportunity for us in the UK to start trading more with Canada and Mexico, Canada especially.

It looks likely that Mark Carney for BoE head will be the next Canadian PM and from what he's said he will call out Trump's bullying and try and get the rest of the world to join him. Interestng times ahead.

  • I see Trump has rolled back a month on imposing tariffs of Mexico and Canada, he's using the threat of tarifs as a negotiationg tool, Canada and Mexico have made some concessions, but I think in a months time Trump will be back with more demands and will incrementally ratchet up the pressure.

Personally I'd rather side with those who aren't trying to bully me, my usual response to being bullied is to either ignore them and walk away or if it can't be avoided fight back and fight to win. Trump maybe elected with a massive majority in AMERICA, but not by the rest of the world, we elected and will elect our government to look after our concerns, and that dosen't include enriching America. If America has such a massive trade deficit with the rest of the world, then maybe it should ask what is wrong with its own products, that people chose imports?
