Trade wars

Trump seems set on starting trade wars, I think some things are going to get expensive, and others not so much.It seem to me like a huge opportunity for us in the UK to start trading more with Canada and Mexico, Canada especially.

It looks likely that Mark Carney for BoE head will be the next Canadian PM and from what he's said he will call out Trump's bullying and try and get the rest of the world to join him. Interestng times ahead.

  • I see Trump has rolled back a month on imposing tariffs of Mexico and Canada, he's using the threat of tarifs as a negotiationg tool, Canada and Mexico have made some concessions, but I think in a months time Trump will be back with more demands and will incrementally ratchet up the pressure.

Personally I'd rather side with those who aren't trying to bully me, my usual response to being bullied is to either ignore them and walk away or if it can't be avoided fight back and fight to win. Trump maybe elected with a massive majority in AMERICA, but not by the rest of the world, we elected and will elect our government to look after our concerns, and that dosen't include enriching America. If America has such a massive trade deficit with the rest of the world, then maybe it should ask what is wrong with its own products, that people chose imports?

  • I think the issues are much bigger than assisted suicide.

Having a UK - Canada - Mexico tie up could be useful. BRICS is very successful as is the EU and the more pacs that form outside of the USAs influence will weaken them so Trump cannot throw his weight about as much.

I wouldn't let a single, small issue like this derail an important thing like stopping a tyrant control so much of the prices in the world, especially when he is focussed only on the USA and treats other countries either with disdain or contempt.

Digital currencies are pretty much a done deal worldwide already - it is only a matter of time before the old cash systems fade out. Governments have too much interest in seeing everything you do to let cash continue.

  • Carney becoming PM, in Canada, would be a disaster. It's already pushing assisted suicide, without proper consultation, while he may push for Digital Currency. Playing hardball with such a popular US President would go down the Swanee.

Never provoke an Outlier. They'll only become more Vengeful. Isolation is a Badge of Honour, these days.

  • "Wars", of any description, are never a great thing.....and whilst they are obviously a massive "opportunity" for some.....history tells me (in my personal opinion) that those who are able to "seize" that opportunity, are NOT my "type of preferred people."
