Apparently, God intervenes by burning city suburbs, filled mostly by ordinary people, but allows Nazi death camp officers, guilty of murder on an industrial scale, torture and sickening experimentation to die peacefully in old age. What sort of morality is that?

Well think back to the times of Noah - people were doing bad things and his response was effectively genocide of the human race and all land animals & birds.
