Favourite thing

Hi everyone

This is just for fun really but wondered if anyone wanted to share their own favourite things? My favourite thing and top of the list is bedtime, I don’t always sleep amazingly well but on the whole and as long as I stick to my bedtime ritual I do ok.
I have to have a hot water bottle, a pillow under my knees, a huge pillow on top of my body and my audio sleep mask on which I play natural sound for as long as I’m in bed. Those things have really helped me sleep better and I never deviate from my little routine now.
I obviously have other things I love which include journaling, audiobooks, video games and pretty much anything to do with motorcycles and racing.
My children tease me about loving bedtime so much and it’s a standing joke in our house but it’s the one place I feel the safest.

  • One of my favourite things is a calcite sphere, slightly bigger than a golf ball. I love natural stones and I have a few of varying sizes and two stone bracelets. One of the bracelets is particularly good to fiddle with and sometimes I just carry it around, rather than wear it.  I love the feel of most natural materials such as stone, pebbles from the beach, and wood. Most of my clothes are made from wool or cotton as I don’t like the feel of synthetic clothing. The materials I own are a reflection of me. Since recent autism diagnosis, I have tried to be authentic = unmasked, but sometimes I need to wear the odd item of clothing made from synthetic fibre = masking.

  • Some stones are very beautiful to look at I agree. Do the stones have healing properties as some crystals can?

  • Rally and motor racing sounds amazing. You have some very varied interests. I do like the rollercoasters but as mentioned on here the crowds and noise can be a problem. If I win the lottery I will hire an entire theme park for a day.

  • Some people consider some stones to have healing properties, but that is not why I have them. I just love the feel, weight and look of natural stone. The calcite stone has a lovely orange glow and feels cool and weighty in the hand. One of my bracelets has malachite beads and they make a beautiful ‘clickety’ sound when I fiddle with it. When I win the lottery (ha ha!), I will have a new home made of natural stone and wood, with a Roman style bathroom of marble. I see you love rollercoasters - that would be my nightmare - but I do share your love of speed, I used to do a bit of rallying and motor racing many moons ago.
