I find it incredibly depressing and I can't look at it like Iain does, I think we could well see Fortress America and Trump turning away from the rest of the world and focussing on those he considers "the enemies within", MacCarthyism all over again? I wonder how many people will leave the country from fear? What will he do if someone like Bezos decides to headquarter outside the US? I can't see anything other than an unholy mess.
I hope Britain and Europe will become closer and co-operate more on security and economc issues. I think the world will orrientate more towards China with America off the international stage except for occaisional tub thumping from Trump. I don't think Ukraine will accept any dilution of its borders whether Trump thnks it's a good idea or not, it's to use one of his favourite phrases 'a bad deal'. I know he's said he wants to put massive import charges on China and lower ones on the rest of the world, I think the rest of the world and China should collectively tell him to do things with lots of FF's in them.

I was thinking more along the lines of the night of the long knives from 1930s Germany. He shows clear fascist tendancies and made it clear he would purge his enemies within to give himself unlimited power...

He could sieze the operation and turn it over to Musk to run. If it is in the "national interests" then he can get away with anything.

Without heavy funding then Ukraine can't afford to keep feeding its war machine and Russia will be able to roll over it due to lack of ammunition in the end. Europe will have a hard time if Trump starts penalising them for supporting his mate Putins enemies as he has repeatedly said he will.
The thing is we can't do anything about any of this so it will just be like watching a horror film - just keep reminding yourself that it isn't happening to you and it makes it a bit less scary.

Which is what Putin wants, I'm not sure they will, they might refuse to surrender, theres plenty of precedent for small embattled countries refusing to surrender, us during WW2 for example, maybe the logical thing would of been to give up, but sometimes fighting to the bitter and bloody end is the only right thing to do., who know's you might even win? European governments were happy to offer Zelinsky sanctuary, expecting them to roll over belly up, he and they didn't, they fight, and seeing as Russia has brought N Koeans in to help with the dying I'm not sure his situation is as secure as we're led to believe?
