  • I didn’t go out in school holidays, TV was my constant companion, I watched all of these programs, many of them before Channel Five existed.  My earliest fav programs were The Double Deckers, Pipkins, Mr, Ben and Why don’t you?
Im trying to resist posting more as this area is a definite special interest. The creations of Oliver Postgate are an interest just on their own.

  • I liked the Double Deckers too, what about Banana Splits, anyone remember them?

I remember Children of the Stones too, a brilliant creepy drama for children.

There seemed to be lots of weird programes for children in the 1970's, all about aliens, people with psychic abilities etc, anyne remember Tarot? And the one with people being able to teleport and being part of an intergalactic groups?

I loved Dangermouse, The Clangers and most stuff by Oliver Postgate and of course Dr Who. I think my geration were blessed with the telly we got, I don't think a lot of it would ever be made now, to anthropomorphic like Tales From the River Bank, and Johnny Morris,  or too weird like Children of the Stones.

I like Stingray as well as Thunderbirds.

  • I was going to mention The Banana Splits and The Monkees, The Arabian Knights was brilliant. I don’t know why I mentioned Pete Postgate, he’s Oliver’s son. Do you remember Daktari, Flipper and The Whirlybirds?

  • I love the White Horses theme. I have it on a Cult Fiction CD.

  • Whirlybirds was another Australian kids tv program, Steve Wright often played the theme tune for White Horses, I’ve added a link. Grange Hill definitely deserves a mention along with Magpie.

  • Daktari, Flipper and even Skippy the Bush Kangaroo! Champion the Wonder Horse and that French one White Horses, I don't remember Whirlybirds.
