Hitting in autism

Hi I'm looking for any advice out there for aggressive behaviour in autistic children. Our 8 year old whenever we are near her hits, bites, kicks, head butts constantly so as you can imagine its a nightmare getting dressed, bathed etc. our Slt and psychs say its frustration for not being able to speak, trying picture cards, these seem to work at school better than at home. Any advice would be gladly appreciated thanks in advance

  • Thanks Coggy, at moment find best thing to do is to leave on own when having meltdown, wont let us near her to cuddle or hold, if you enter her space at all she lashes out, even when doing something she likes still hitting, so hard, she does like music though dance music helps calm though again only if left alone. Totally agree its trial and error all tips or strategies to help greatly appreciated thanks
