I agree that the layout isn't the best and can be confusing. I tend to assume that if a comment states it is 'in reply to' a member, then it is generally intended for that person. If the words 'in reply to' aren't visible, then I assume the comment is intended for the member who started the discussion, and/or the community as a whole.

Hopefully, when the current site is eventually updated, the forum layout will be considerably easier to understand.

Thanks HMO, it should be easy to do with instructions given when you go to the PM icon, which isn't very clear either, it does seem a roundabout way of doing it?

You can send PMs, you just need to add that person as a friend first.

No it's not just you, it is truely terrible and confusing, there are conversstions within conversations and it seems several going on at once.

It also seems difficult to contact anyone with a PM, I wonder if they actually want us to discuss things or make friends off site? My impression is they don't and seeing as making friends is difficult for us it seems a bit mean.

Definitely - it's terrible, despite the filtering options.
