I always start the day with a quote. It puts me in a positive and hopeful mood, which if I'm lucky will last the rest of the day.
These are 2 of my fave quotes.
Please share any you like as well.
“I'm a pessimist because of intelligence, but an optimist because of will.”― Antonio Gramsci, Antonio Gramsci: Prison Letters
"Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend"
Obviously this is wishful thinking as friends and sleep are seemingly for other people.
Sounds trite but is so true…
One of my favourites which I turn to regularly.
I love it!!
This is my fave quote from Doctor Who
True story: this morning, having heard my wife tell me about people misbehaving, I responded by saying, "Well, as the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said: 'People are tw*ts.'" For a moment, she believed me! And they say that autistic people are gullible! (She's neurotypical, though thinking about it...)
Peter Capaldi had some great quotes/speeches. I love the never ever eat pears one....Lol he was truly a wise man
Thanks for sharing this Pegg
You can learn so much from Disney, I find it truly relatable.
I love Douglas Adams. He is a goldmine for quotes. This one seems very appropriate for current times:
“Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job”
He wasn't wrong!
Also Good!
None of these things are always easy, but important, I think
'Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.' Douglas Adams
That's lovely.
Reminds me of two quotably expressed instances of the central values in Doctor Who as well: 'Never be cruel or cowardly' and 'Run fast, laugh hard, be kind'
Have Courage and be Kind.
A little bit of Disney I can get on board with.
I rather like this, from St Augustine:
”My memory contains my feelings. Not in the same way as they are present in the mind when it experiences them, but in a quite different way. That is in keeping with the special powers of the memory. For even when I am unhappy I can remember times when I was cheerful. And when I'm cheerful I can remember past unhappiness. I can recall past fears, and yet not feel afraid and when I remember that once I wanted something, I can do so without wishing to have it now.“
"And somewhere in the sky overhead, for an instant before they dissolved into mist, two snowflakes were the same. Long ago, in an English Spring" My favourite ever closing lines from a book.
Absolutely!
Great word, fun to say.
