  • I think we all have a responsibility here to support each other, after all many of our autistic community members come here seeking belonging, guidance and validation, connection amongst other things.

Our neurokin deserve safe spaces where they are celebrated and truly understood as too often in offline spaces this is not the case.

Peer support and social identity is so important.

  • Bless you, for being a soul of understanding.  You make me happy and help me to retain a modicum of faith in our daft little species.

  • the one member of our community who could undeniably be REALLY REALLY triggered by this article, is the one who wanted to raise this matter with us.....his community.  His desire to share is just as valid as someone's desire not to hear 'his share.'  We are not talking about a notional "someone" here, we are talking about our Robert....and I think that counts for a lot in these circumstances.

Yes I completely understand what you mean.

  • Indeed.  I do hear you brother.....but the irony of this particular situation cannot escape you surely.....the one member of our community who could undeniably be REALLY REALLY triggered by this article, is the one who wanted to raise this matter with us.....his community.  His desire to share is just as valid as someone's desire not to hear 'his share.'  We are not talking about a notional "someone" here, we are talking about our Robert....and I think that counts for a lot in these circumstances.

Anyhow, rest assured that I don't seek a "spat" here....I just thought this aspect of this matter was worth bringing to the fore.  Rest easy Ausomely - I view your opinion as equally valid to mine, not just on this matter, but on all = that is how I am......and it irritates people sometimes.....I hope that is not the case for you.

  • I REALLY do struggle to understand why it should be worthy of contemplation for some form of censorship or redaction in this place......but then that's just me.

Because for some members of our community, this article could be really triggering. Also, this community is meant to be friendly and welcoming and we don’t want to unnecessarily cause any distress, particularly because there is significant overlap with trauma in our autistic community.
