3 Good Things (Redux)

Since the thread, which began May 2021, seems to have vanished, I wish to create a new one.

From Darkness to Light. Smiley

1. I paid for a condensed tumble dryer, which I reserved on Tuesday; for delivery, tomorrow. Also paid for a three-year warranty. (In cash)

2. I made a poem, entitled 'Storm in a teacup', about the arrival of Agnes. (SEYMOUR!)

3. Bought more Farm-Fresh milk today.

Parents
  • 1. Chose my next open learn course (religion in ancient Greece)

    2. Got my hair cut

    3. Downloaded the new videogame "Star Wars outlaws" - bonus: I found out it's available with a Ubisoft subscription of £14.99 for a month, so I don't have to pay £70 to buy it! Blush

  • I hope that you can tell us what it is like. Did you ever play the Knights of the Old Republic games? I loved HK-47, and I thought his speech method was brilliant for autistics. I wish everyone had to speak like him. He would prefix every utterance with how the words should be interpreted, e.g.

    • "Mockery: Oh, Master, I love you, but I hate all you stand for!"
    • "Observation: I am a droid, master, with programming. Even if I did not enjoy killing, I would have no choice. Thankfully, I enjoy it very much."
    • "Retraction: Did I say that out loud? I apologize, master. While you are a meatbag, I suppose I should not call you such."
    • "Query: Can I kill him now, master?"
    • "Suggestion: Perhaps we could dismember the organic? It would make it easier for transport to the surface."

I love how you do your courses. I may have to look into Open Learn...

  • No, I hadn't even heard of the knights of the old republic - I'll look into that when I'm next looking for a game to play.

One of my favourite characters in games is Codsworth, the robot butler in Fallout 4.

One of his best quotes, on being discovered by his owner who has just exited a vault (fallout bunker) where they had been frozen for 200 years:

"Two centuries with no one to talk to, no one to serve. I spent the first ten years trying to keep the floors waxed, but nothing gets out nuclear fallout from vinyl wood. Nothing! And don't get me started about the futility of dusting a collapsed house. And the car! The car! How do you polish rust?"

    He also tells jokes:

"Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says, "Does this taste funny to you?""

"A neutron walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "How much for a drink?" To which the bartender replies, "For you, no charge!""

"I was going to attend a clairvoyant's meeting, but it was cancelled due to unforeseen events."

"The past, present & future walk into a bar. It was tense."

  • Ha ha. Yes, I remember Codsworth Joy. I'm still on F3 (played them all before when they came out), but I'm working my way through 3, NV and 4 again.

Knights of the Old Republic is quite old now. It was brilliant and had a great story, and captured the essence of Star Wars, but the interface is probably considered clunky these days. I heard a rumour that it was getting remade, but only a rumour.
