3 Good Things (Redux)

Since the thread, which began May 2021, seems to have vanished, I wish to create a new one.

From Darkness to Light. Smiley

1. I paid for a condensed tumble dryer, which I reserved on Tuesday; for delivery, tomorrow. Also paid for a three-year warranty. (In cash)

2. I made a poem, entitled 'Storm in a teacup', about the arrival of Agnes. (SEYMOUR!)

3. Bought more Farm-Fresh milk today.

  • 1 G/F came though and gave me a day of her time to drive me 100 miles each way to attempt to repair and recover my new ebay purchase.

    2. My new ebay purchase was indeed repairable, and trundled me home fairly nicely considering the horrible weather. -Score!

    3. I survived riding 100 miles with the wrong (or no) glasses on an unfamiliar motorcycle in ihorrible weather, in the dark, being (as far as I can determine) the first time I've ridden a morcycle in 10 years...  Was I scared? No, I was way, WAY too cold, and busy "coping" to have time to be scared.. I fixed it good though, it ran like a little sewing machine. I wasn't very brave, I don't think I got past 80 at any point, or used more than 7,000 of the available 12,000 rpms.. People were still passing me even at the end of my journey..

  • vrmmmm vrmmm! Good on ya getting there and back and good on amazing GF!

I like to drive if it's not busy and the car is reliable. Or if it is packed enough that everyone is going slower on multiple lanes and I know the exits. I mostly have melt down time when I don't know where I am, or lost or the directions don't match the reality. Or - the worst- if someone is giving dubious or obs wrong directions from the passenger seat. I read maps like they were ciphers, trying to memorize the way and google be damned. That voice needs sending out t'the corn field!

  • I face my fear, constantly, when driving. A lifetime brought up by those paranoid about accidents, claims and bereavement.

I'm still not 100% driving towards, and from, Belfast. But I survive, with a little help from my bus and pedestrian knowledge of the city.
