Using our Universal Autistic Universal Super- Power for good.

What Universal Super Power I hear you ask?

That's a manifestation of it...

We are essentially Annoyiing People. Now I know that is a very aut-ist thing to say but it is I am sure the more enlightend reader will agree, an essential truth.

We are annoying to others.

Some people leave the forum they find this truth to be so manifest, often whilst denying it.

Fortunately for me during my half century of not so blisfull ignorance of my own autism I had manged to observe absorb adn cope with teh basic fact that most people find me annoying.

Some instantly, some over time.

SO how do I use my powers for good?

Simples: When that phone rings and a gentleman with a strange accent and poor audio introduces himself as Ramesh, and apparenlty the Motior Insurance Bureau has notified him of my recent vehicle accident, I simply ask him: "Which one?".. At this point Romesh starts scrambling for information, so I press home my request for information, and he eventually manages to tempt me It's the one this year or last". I again ask him "Which one?" (Since I've now established that he is of course lying, for me it's permission to take the gloves off and get "creative" mysellf...)

By taking up the time of these people, and delivering no rewards whatsoever, I reduce the probability that they will find a gullible victim.

God made me annoying, but he gave me a whole lot of choice in how I use my gift....

  • I realized this morning I might already be doing this. The netball club that got me suspended from Netball Scotland for 5 years were offering a free top to new members who paid for 3 netball sessions when I joined them. (Probably so they could deliberately not give me one, in case their false accusations didn't work, so I'd know how unwelcome I was there.) Naturally, I've never received mine. So I've e-mailed and asked for it about 6 times now.

I got an e-mail from Netball Scotland last week telling me that I wasn't going to get the free top and if I continue to contact the club , the club will contact the police and accuse me of harassment.

I intend to keep asking for it until I get the free top or a refund of the money I paid for the netball sessions.

  • I'd get yourself some legal advice at this point.

Tell your counsel the whole story and ONLY IF YOUR COUNSEL AGREES THAT YOU HAVE BEEN WRONGED get your seven day letter sorted out, and send it, then be ready to sue the crap out of them.

If you run into delaying tactics, and need to send reminders, with the first reminder include your schedule of charges for further phone calls, producing reminder letters, etc.

Be remorselss about any deadlines you give, UTTERLY accurate, and on time.

    Don't get mad, get even.

UNLESS you find out that you are wrong in everyone else's eyes, in which case you have had a learning experience. Before I make anyone else's life a misery, I always like to check with a few people if I am really being reasonable. But some people just need a few visits to court... It cost s about £100 to raise the paperwork, if you have some knowledge about how the law works and a suitable solicitor, you can force at least one ajournment, causiing them more loss in time and money, and generally drag em though a stressful (and if you make your case right) complicated process.

And NO-ONE will be "reporting you to the police".which as an autist you really, really, do not want those people in your life...

  • And NO-ONE will be "reporting you to the police".

In the original thread he mentioned having the police show up at his flat over what another player clearly thought was threatening behaviour, and was suspended effectively indefinitely over unspecified "false accusations".

I don't think he should be told to keep digging.

  • 1. Missed that O/P entirely. BUT suspected something of that nature.

    2. My recommendation was primarily to get  second opinion, which I fleshed out with my own example.

Overall if the O/P follows my advice they'd end up learning what they need to know,  through the process...
