Kazuo Ishiguro

I read Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro at the same time as I was completing my autism assessment in November 2021. I'd never read any of his books before so was all new to me. I found it tied in very well with my exploration of autism and ongoing mental health recovery journey. I went on to enjoy reading his book The Remains of the Day (and watch the film) as well as watch (and get the DVD in time) of the film Living (released in cinemas last year https://youtu.be/-hCTXaQ1guE ) which he adapted from the Japanese original. I would like to chat with other Kazuo Ishiguro fans so am on the lookout  for any generally, are any of you interested in his work much?

    Oh dear, I'm not sure they have hit the right tone with that. The trailer gives the impression of a 'feel-good' movie. The music is too upbeat, there's too much comedy... I think this might be one of those times when I can't watch the movie of a book I have loved. Besides, if they keep the ending the same as it is in the novel it is really going to annoy people who think they are watching a feel-good comedy! The novel is much darker. What do you think, Allyboo? And any other Ishiguro fans?

    It's nice to see the Unofficial Kazuo Ishiguro Fan Club still in action, good chat imo Slight smile   and I were saying this too on the other thread conversation I've created about it all

    'I know what you mean, I wonder how they went about choosing the director and so on. It looks like a different style to his usual adaptations. I'm looking forward to watching it nevertheless and reading the book again in time'.

    Maybe they're aiming to attract a wider audience with this choice of style and tone (partly a financial business corporate type decision)? I'd be surprised at that though as I imagine Kazuo Ishiguro would insist on things fitting his visions (not 'selling out' etc)  Upside down  #CreativeControl
